Thank you for your support!

I’d like to say a big thank you to all of the people who have liked, circled, shared and re-tweeted the news about Unwritten. We are looking to creating something very special that combines the best of the Myst and Uru franchises with the best of table-top role-playing. We are still working on a lot of details, and there is a lot of work to be done. But we plan to post periodic updates, tidbits, and other miscellany as we have them.

While I am here, let me answer a few questions that have popped up:

How do I find out more about the FATE system?

While we will be using our own variation of the FATE system, you can find out a lot about the system by going to Evil Hat’s FATE website at http://www.faterpg.com. I also encourage you to look at the games that use the FATE system that are already out there. All of them have been terrific products.

Can I play a game set in historical D’ni?

The default setting of the game will be the ‘modern day’, after the events of Myst Online: Uru Live. However, the system can easily be used for other eras of D’ni. Unwritten will include guidance on how to do so, as well as other variations on the Myst universe.

Welcome to the Unwritten RPG website!

We at InkWorks Productions are proud to announce development of Unwritten, a role-playing game of adventure and exploration based on the Myst series of games by Cyan Worlds.

Myst occupies a special place in the history of video games. It was the best-selling PC game of the 20th century (only to be replaced by The Sims in 2002 – nine years after Myst’s initial release). Many considered Myst the ‘killer app’ that drove the adoption of CD-ROM and the first proof that video games could be art. It continues to be popular in the 21st century an an app for the iPhone and iPad.

Everyone who was playing video games in the nineties remembers playing Myst. But very few people realize that behind the game is a rich and varied background. It spawned four sequels, a spin-off series, a MMORPG, three novels and a possible major motion picture. Through all of those we catch glimpses of a myriad universes, perfect for adventure, exploration and story.

Our goal is to bring this world to the storytellers: the GameMasters and players of table-top role-playing games. Unwritten will show how to set adventures on the Ages of Myst and the ruins of the D’ni civilization. We are looking forward to the journey.
